Post Houston@SXSW wrap-up

Jeremy

Well we’re back home in Houston just as the rest of the world is just heading to Austin. I was way too late in booking this year so we only had the one gig. We were lucky (and honored) to be asked to play this one by Grace Rodriguez. We had an amazing time but not without incident. For those following us on Twitter (@waysidedrive) you pretty much got a play by play of everything, but to recap…

Foggy drive into Austin, zero visibility actually. Arrived, had barely been there a few hours and backed into a car in the La Quinta parking lot. It was this grouchy old man that wanted $100 to not report it to the insurance. It was barely scratched, not even a dent. So I reluctantly coughed it up. After we unloaded at the venue we parked the trailer at the hotel and took a taxi back to the venue. After a few minutes upon arriving we realized that we left the camcorder in the taxi! Luckily we were able to get a hold of them and get it back. Then later that evening, to my shock and amazement, I received a call from the hotel that the wife of the aforementioned grouch had determined that they didn’t need the full $100 and left some money back at the front desk! WOW! And the best part, she put the money in a card. Here it is…

She must be the Ying to his grouchy Yang. You can view the envelope and front on our flickr photostream. It’s worth it, trust me.

But the show went well. We really had a great time. Here are a few photos of the event taken by Grace Rodriguez. If you click on them you’ll go to her photostream.
